I have taught English for three years. In 2014 while living in Japan, I started to teach English privately. These involved one-on-one, sometimes one-on-two lessons.
For the first year, my lessons were limited to just helping my students improve their grammar and spoken English skills. Afterwards, I started to develop my own curriculum tailored towards individual students.
Since then I have taught software engineers, teachers, hobbyists, even a pilot! I have also lived, studied, and taught in Taiwan for a year.
Now, as of February 2017, I have been teaching in Shanghai, China for the past six months. I’m currently on a one year contract.
While working here, I have earned a 120-hour TESOL certificate. My experience has involved teaching adults, although I have taught some children at this company. The company has structured curriculum and lesson plans that I have modified to fit my students as needed. I have also developed curriculum and PPTs (power points) for the company’s online platform.
I’m currently looking to return to Japan long-term this year around September/October, when my contract expires.
